App Terms of Use

Effective date: 25 April 2025

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the RIZOM mobile application (“RIZOM app”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By downloading and using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Please note: These Terms apply solely to the RIZOM app and not to the RIZOM website, which is governed by a separate policy available here.

1. Prototype Status

The RIZOM app is currently in prototype stage and made available solely for the purpose of real-life testing and early user feedback. The app may be subject to performance issues or feature limitations while under development.

2. Data Protection and Processor Information

RIZOM is committed to compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as adopted in both the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The data controller for the RIZOM app is Us.
Our appointed data processor is CarPAl Enterprises Inc, who acts on our instructions to provide hosting and technical infrastructure for essential services (e.g. login authentication via email).

CarPAl Enterprises Inc is contractually bound to implement appropriate security and privacy safeguards in line with GDPR and UK data protection law.

3. Edge Computing and Data Handling

RIZOM is designed around edge computing principles, prioritising privacy and user control. This means:

All user-generated data (e.g. mood entries, journal content, reflections) is stored and processed locally on your device.
We do not store or access this personal content unless you explicitly share it.
The only data sent to our servers is your email address, used to authenticate and manage your account.
If any data is voluntarily shared for community insight or research, it is anonymised and cannot be traced back to individuals.

We do not monetise user data, and we never sell or lease your information to third parties.

4. Eligibility and Account Registration

You must be at least 16 years old to use the RIZOM app independently. Children under 16 may use the app only under the supervision of a parent or guardian, who must register and manage the child’s access from their own account.

By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement or are acting as a guardian.

5. Permitted Use

You may use the app for personal journaling, mood tracking, and reflection, including optional sharing within trusted circles.

You agree not to:

Violate laws or third-party rights
Post harmful, offensive, or misleading content
Disrupt or misuse the service infrastructure
Attempt to access or deconstruct another user's data

6. User Content and Responsibility

You retain full ownership of any content you generate. Unless you choose to share it, your content remains private and local to your device.

If you share content, you confirm you have the rights to do so and accept responsibility for how that content is received by others.

7. Intellectual Property

The RIZOM name, interface, visual identity, and source code remain the property of the creators or licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or repurpose any element of the app without our explicit written permission.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to the app in case of misuse, violation of these Terms, or if required for legal or technical reasons. You may delete your account at any time via your phone or by contacting us.

9. Modifications

As a prototype, the RIZOM app is subject to continuous improvement. We may update these Terms to reflect feature changes, legal obligations, or community feedback. You will be notified in-app or via email of any material changes.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations

The app is provided “as is” for testing purposes. We make no warranties regarding performance or suitability for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for any losses resulting from the use or inability to use the app.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
